MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT

To ensure the effective management and control of finances through timely and accurate financial planning, budgeting, accounting and reporting; to ensure compliance with Swiss legal requirements as a result of head office location. To provide guidance and support to the NET, the Network and Practice Leaders on finance related matters. Leads and steers the Finance Community of Practice, and provides best practice guidance and specialist financial support to Network finance practitioners.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS

Processing supplier invoices and other payment requests. Accounting for provisions and prepayments in compliance with WWF International policies & procedures and Swiss VAT law. Supporting country offices to process payments, which require WWF International approval. Manages accounting and reporting of online donations and platforms.

3 Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Verifies and processes all types of WWF International payments in accordance with WWF International policies and guidelines and Swiss VAT law;
  • Processes Country office payments requiring WWF International approval in accordance with WWF International policies and guidelines;
  • Takes responsibility for assigned AP related Oracle accounts including accounts reconciliation and month end closing activities;
  • Performs compliance checks using the organisation's compliance tool (i.e. Bridger Insight) for suppliers, and processes the results, following the compliance policy;
  • Manages accounting and reporting of online donations and platforms;
  • Acts as a back-up for Accounts Payable & iExpenses Accountant, and Senior Specialist,Accounts Payable;
  • Supports the Senior Specialist, Taxes in preparation/submission of Swiss VAT reporting and acts as back-up for Senior Specialist, Taxes;
  • Carries out other duties, as and when required, assisting with ad hoc projects and tasks as requested by Manager, Treasury & Operations Accounting.

PROFILE

Required Qualifications

  • An university degree in finance / accounting or minimum a commercial diploma or equivalent, possibly with an emphasis on Accounting and Finance (e.g. “Handelsakademie”, commercial school, Bachelor Economics / Accounting);
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in finance & administration in a multi-cultural environment.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent team player, diplomatic, and an aptitude for solving problems in a logical, constructive way, excellent communication skills to work with stakeholders from different cultures and functions;
  • The position demands flexibility, initiative, attention to detail, and Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Office, management information systems, Oracle and financial reporting systems (Noetix) an advantage;
  • Excellent proficiency in English;

Suppliers, Banks, Auditors, e-banking & other software consultants.
