Lab Technician - Protein Production (m/f/x)
Location: Campus of ISTA Austria, Klosterneuburg until end of 2023, then Vienna Biocenter, St. Marx, Vienna
Start date: From 15.09.2023 onwards
Job Type: Full-time (40 hours) preferred, part-time possible
As a Technician specializing in Protein Production, you will play a vital role in our research and development efforts to advance the field of protein conjugation to improve human health.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct protein production processes and experiments, including (essential) prokaryotic and (preferred) eukaryotic cell culture, transfection, and protein purification
- Perform protein characterization assays to assess quality, quantity, and functionality
- Source and maintain laboratory equipment, reagents, and consumables required for protein production
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols to ensure accurate and reproducible results
- Contribute to establishing new SOPs
- Collaborate with the research team to optimize protein production processes and troubleshoot technical issues
- Record experimental data, prepare reports, and contribute to scientific projects
Requirements:
- Hands-on experience with bacterial and mammalian (E. coli essential and CHO preferred) protein expression systems
- At least 3 years of practical work experience in this or a related field
- Proficiency in protein purification techniques, including affinity chromatography, ion exchange, gel filtration etc.
- Familiarity with protein characterization methods, such as SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, ELISA, Capillary electrophoresis, HPLC-MS
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
- Strong execution skills with reliable and independent generation of data
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with colleagues in a multidisciplinary environment
- Good command of the English language (our working language is English)
- Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and practices
- Familiarity with Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN) is a plus
- Preferably good IT skills
